Hyperhidrosis/excessive sweating

14 March, 2018

Sweating is a normal function of the body that is needed to keep the body at a steady temperature.

When we exercise, or feel hot, stressed or anxious it is normal to sweat more.

Some people sweat much more than is needed - this is a condition called hyperhidrosis.

The exact causes are unknown but it is known to be related to the nerves that normally make is sweat are more active in patients with hyperhidrosis.

Areas commonly affected include the hands, feet and the underarms.

Unfortunately there is no permanent cure for hyperhidrosis. Stronger antiperspirants can be used which can sometimes be effective.

An alternative option is the use of Botox. This works to block the nerves that are overactive which causes the hyperhidrosis. Small, specific amounts of Botox can be injected into the underarms to block these nerves, and as a result stop the excessive sweating. This result can last for upto 6 months on average.

Jawline enhancement using dermal filler, Dermaspace Huddersfield

03 March, 2018

Dermal filler can be placed along the jawline to create definition and also sharpness at the angle of the jaw.
In men this can be done to achieve a wider, squarer and stronger jaw which is felt to be more masculine and therefore desirable

In women the sharpness at the jaw can be added but using a softer approach and staying within the natural contours of the face. This ensures that although the jawline is defined and sculpted, it does not add any width/masculinity to the face.

Numbing cream is applied prior to the procedure, and the filler also contains anaesthetic to further minimise any discomfort

A mixture of both cannula and needle techniques are used to achieve the desirable result, with results typically lasting 12-18 months.

Hand fillers

26 January, 2018

With hands often being the tell-tale signs of age, an increasing number of women are attending aesthetic clinics to banish this problem.

As we age, the skin on the hands thins which causes the veins and tendons to become more prominent. In addition to this our hands are exposed to the Sun more frequently than other parts of the body and we don’t usually apply sun screen to them either. This makes them more susceptible to sun spots and ageing. It is difficult to hide such tell tale signs which is why it is often said that hands are the best indicator of age.

Given the above it is no surprise that there has been an increase in the number of women who attend aesthetic clinics looking for a solution to this.

Here at Dermaspace we use dermal fillers to correct these signs of ageing. Hand rejuvenation using dermal fillers to volumise and plump and smooth the skin to produce a more youthful appearance is a highly effective treatment. Topical numbing cream is applied prior to the procedure following which small amounts of dermal filler are injected in a number of areas covering the surface of the hands. There is minimal discomfort and the procedure is very well tolerated.

Treatment usually lasts between 1-2 years.

our competition winner!!

20 January, 2018

Thank you to all those who entered our DermaSpace Instagram competition and congratulations to our lovely winner!!!

After a thorough consultation with our aesthetic doctor here in Huddersfield, our stunning winner decided she wanted a no knife face lift - also known as a liquid face lift.
This was tailored and tweaked to suit the specific areas of concern of our client.

Although we do offer treatment packages, we know that no one client is the same, and here at dermaspace, we create bespoke combinations of treatments based on every individual client.

In this case the liquid face lift involved adding volume and definition to the mid facial area using premium juvederm vycross range dermal fillers to the cheeks, nasolabial folds (nose to mouth lines), and marionette lines. This allowed for a lifted, plumper and more rejuvenated looks. Results should last 18-24 months.

This was combined with upper face anti wrinkle injections/Botox treatment as our client was troubled by crows feet and forehead lines, and also a chemical brow lift to give more of wide awake and refreshed appearance.

The Smokers lines were also treated. These are the vertical lines that radiate out from above the upper border of the top lip. They are a result of repeated pursing of our lips and can be treated with both Botox or dermal fillers depending on the depth of them. As the smokers lines for our client were present even at rest and exacerbated on pursing her lips, we thought it was best that they were treated with dermal filler.

Here is a before and after photo. We’re sure you will agree with the amazing results. More detailed and close up photos are available on our website gallery, and our Facebook/Instagram pages -

The contour package.

11 January, 2018

The contour package at DermaSpace includes a combination of 3 treatments - cheek augmentation with dermal filler, masseter Botox, and chin augmentation/filler

Jawline slimming/masseter Botox:

This is a treatment involving the use of Botox to re shape the face. A strong, square jawline is often sought in a male, but in a female it is more desirable to softer, heart shaped face. This can be achieved by injecting controlled amounts of Botox into specific muscles at the sides of the face (the masseter muscle).

It is a quick procedure with no pain and no downtime.

Cheek augmentation:

This involves specifically placed dermal filler comprising of hyaluronic acid onto the cheek bone. This is achieved through a variety of advanced infection techniques that our aesthetic doctor at dermaspace in Huddersfield is highly trained and experienced in. The area is first numbed, and our dermal fillers (juvederm) contain built in anaesthetic to further minimise any discomfort.

The filler adds as an anchor on the cheekbone to create a more lifted and sculpted effect.

Chin augmentation:

This involves placing more dermal filler (as with cheek augmentation) at specific points on the chin to allow it to be re shaped and structured.

These 3 treatments combined will provide a stunning sculpted and contoured appearance.

Prices start from £950!

lip fillers at dermaspace, Huddersfield

07 January, 2018

Lip augmentation/fillers could possibly be one of the most highly requested treatments at dermaspace. This is likely due to Kylie Jenner and her confession that her beautifully shaped plump lips are not natural, but are actually a result of dermal fillers. Following an interview in which she revealed that she regularly has lip fillers (juvederm) containing hyaluronic acid, the number of people getting this procedure done has soared.

At dermaspace we only use dermal fillers comprising of hyaluronic acid. This is a substance that is actually naturally present in your body, and it acts as a sponge to draw in water which allows your lips to become more defined, volumised and plump. We stock a wide range of fillers to suit every need - including brand leader juvederm.

All of lip fillers are performed by our aesthetic doctor. Following a consultation, some numbing cream is applied to the lips and left to work. This helps to ease any discomfort. To further reduce any pain, the majority of the dermal fillers we use also contain lidocaine - an anaesthetic allowing the procedure to be virtually painless. Once the anaesthetic cream has started to work, several small injection of filler are placed around the vermillion border of the lip and into the body of the lip itself.

During the procedure, the results are continuously reviewed with our clients to ensure that they are happy with the appearance as we go along.

Following treatment the lips are massaged to allow the filler to integrate.

The whole treatment takes approximately 30 minutes, and common side effects include mild swelling and bruising which settles within a few days.

Detailed, written after care information is also provided to every client, along with the mobile number of our aesthetic doctor should any further questions or concerns arise.

Depending on the filler used, results usually last up-to 6 months with a top up recommended every 4-6 months.

Our prices start from £200 for 1ml

Lip care for the colder months.

05 January, 2018

As we settle into the colder months, attention is often paid to our skin care but the lips can often be neglected. But with the cold air outside and the heated air inside, the lips can become dry and tight.

The cold weather can have a significant effect on our lips. When we go out into the cold we take measures to cover up the rest of our body, but the face and lips often remain exposed to the chilling wind.

Lips are a special type of skin that is thinner than the rest of the body and dries out 10 times faster than the skin on our face making it even more important to use extra protection.

Here are SIX tips to help keep your lips smooth all winter long:

1. Don’t lick your lips! When they feel dry it is natural to want to lick them to help moisten them. However this actually makes them even drier. Also the saliva contains enzymes which can further cause irritation.
2. Use an ointment based lipbalm. Look for one that contains essential oils and sunscreen. This will help to lock in moisture and heal any cracks.
3. Treat any cracks straight away.
4. Avoid rubbing or brushing your lips when they are peeling. This will create further cracks and sores. It’s much better to use a heavy ointment based lipbalm.
5. Avoid lipbalms that contain eucalyptus, menthol or camphor as these ingredients will actually further dry out the lips
6. Apply lipbalm before you go to bed at night.
